Because of our research prowess and technological advances in medicine, many people are shocked to hear that Greenville Hospital System University Medical Center (GHS) is a not-for-profit organization. Our sole mission is to improve the health of people in our communities in a caring, cost-effective manner, not to make a healthy profit for our shareholders. Because of that, it takes all of us donating time, talent and treasure to make Greenville Hospital System strong.

Volunteering Time and Talent
Volunteers play a crucial role in providing superior patient care at Greenville Hospital System. These volunteers help us to support our mission in serving our community. In a year, over 1,000 people will volunteer to help us to meet the health care needs of our community. Volunteers help us in this effort by visiting patients, escorting patients around the hospital, running the gift shop, holding newborn babies, delivering mail and through many other service opportunities.
